The Trial was conducted in response to calls from a number of primary producers for farmers with on-farm generation to be able to use the electricity grid to share the energy they generate and export with other connections on their properties, to reduce the amount of electricity they purchase from the retail market.
Along with the other eight participants, your business has contributed to a pioneering study that, to the best of TasNetworks’ knowledge, no other electricity network in Australia has attempted. Your feedback is, therefore, an important part of helping us understand how the capacity to offset the exports of electricity generated on-farm against concurrent consumption at other connections on the same property worked in practice and how it might be improved to better meet primary producers’ needs.
This survey is designed to gather your honest impressions, experiences and suggestions based on your involvement in the Trial. Your responses will be kept confidential and will only be used by TasNetworks to prepare a report on the Trial, a report which will be shared with all participants.
The survey has around 35 questions and should take approximately 20- minutes to complete. The survey can only be completed in the one session, but you can navigate your way back to questions you’ve already answered if you want to change an answer before submitting your survey.
The focus of the questions is on participant’s understanding of the FarmShare network tariff and the operational changes they made to take advantage of the energy sharing arrangements available during the Trial.
Barriers to behavioural change, and perceived value. There are no right or wrong answers—what matters most is your genuine perspective.

The FarmShare Trial introduced some new concepts like the Solar Soak period, which offered lower network and retail charges for consumption between 10am and 4pm (as well as network charges applying to net exports in the Solar soak period), and a financial reward/payment from TasNetworks for exports of energy in the morning and late afternoon/evening peak periods.
