When do Expressions of Interest open and close?

    Expressions of interest (EOI) for both groups open on 12 April and close at midnight 30 April 2024.

    Who can apply to be a member of TasNetworks' Engagement Groups?

    We are currently only seeking expressions of interest for membership of our two new engagement groups:

    • Customer Advisory Group
    • Stakeholder Advisory Group.

    Broadly speaking, we are seeking applications for membership from:

    • people over the age of 18 years
    • individual Tasmanian electricity users/customers, or
    • people who represent either a community, industry/business body or group.

    Please refer to each group's individual Terms of Reference for more specific information on the kind of skills, knowledge and interests we are looking for in each group:

    Do I need certain skills or qualifications to become a member?

    Formal qualifications are welcome, but aren't necessary to be a member of either group. 

    We are keen to hear from people that have a basic understanding of the electricity network and are able to constructively contribute as a member of a group.

    The Customer Advisory Group will explore residential and small business customer topics to ensure preferences are considered in our business decisionsThose looking to join should be:

    • over 18 years of age
    • a Tasmanian electricity customer/users
    • have a basic understanding of the energy supply chain
    • willing to learn about TasNetworks' regulated operating environment
    • prepared to share their perspectives, lived experience and knowledge as an electricity user/customer.

    The Stakeholder Advisory Group will cover both transmission and distribution network issues, including pricing, tarifffs, and regulatory topics. Those looking to join:

    • should be over 18 years of age
    • might be an individual stakeholder, but might also be a stakeholder representing the perspectives and needs of a community, membership group or organisation 
    • have the capacity to consider matters through the lens of what is in the best interests of TasNetworks' customers. 

    Can I apply for both groups?

    Yes, you can apply for both groups if you feel your knowledge, skills and interests fit both.

    TasNetworks seems to have lots of engagement groups, what do they all do?

    We're currently finalising a new engagement group model and will be sharing this in mid-2024 for public feedback. 

    Our engagement groups are our most important forum for ongoing and meaningful dialogue with our customers and stakeholders. We have five groups at the moment, and their purpose is briefly summarised below:

    • Customer advisory group (10-15 members): explores residential and small business customer topics to ensure preferences are considered in business decisions.
    • Stakeholder advisory group (10-15 members): covers both transmission and distribution network issues, including pricing, tarifffs, and regulatory topics. 
    • Technical working group (10 members): explores issues affecting customers, businesses and the industry such as connections, assets, processes. 
    • Local government working group (representation from 27 local council areas): explores issues affecting councils, such as street lighting, vegetation management, and subdivisions. 
    • Major projects working groups (members are those directly impacted by projects): dedicated groups for major projects, such as the North West Transmission Developments Stakeholder Liaison Group.

    Will I be paid as an Advisory Group member?

    When will I find out if my application was successful?
