TasNetworks Farmers Hub
Consultation has concluded
What is the Farmers Hub and why is it so important?
During the many discussions we've had as part of our emPOWERing Farms project, the farming community told us that electricity was a highly complex industry to understand and that it was hard know who to contact or where to find helpful information. We listened to that feedback and have created a new online Farmers Hub, a one stop shop to assist the farming community with their energy related questions, such as:
- Pricing and how you can provide input into our forward plans
- Irrigation connections including information on upcoming connection webinars
- Biosecurity we've signed onto DPIPWE's Charter for Working on Private Farm Land, which sets out the approach and expectations for utilities working on private farm land
- Annual Planning Report our ten year look ahead of identified electricity projects and where there are constraints on the system
- Demand Management we want to work with you to help identify cost-effective demand management solutions, which allow us to defer or avoid the need for network investment and reduce the long-term costs of the network.
emPOWERing Farms Trial
Recognising that our customer base is diverse with a range of different energy needs, emPOWERing Farms allowed us to further understand opportunities that can best meet the energy needs of our agricultural customers.
In total we have spoken to over 40 agricultural customers who farmed everything from sheep, cattle, potatoes, berries and even alpacas. We held face to face interviews, workshops, gallery walks and phone conferences to gather feedback on the issues that were important to them.
As a result of these interactions, we have embarked on a number of initiatives. To find out more about the outcomes of this trial, we invite you to have a look at the emPOWERing Farms final report.
