From conversation to action - Final Recommendations delivered

43 People’s Panel members.
44 hours of engagement.
6 and a ¼ days of learning, listening and collaboration over 4 months
34 speakers and presenters.
10 final recommendations.
The People’s Panel came together in Launceston on Saturday 13 June for the final day of their deliberations, marking the culmination of months of learning, discussion and collaboration.
The day began with a thoughtful Welcome to Country from Graeme Gardner, setting the tone for an important and collaborative final session. Panel members then heard from Sandra Thaow, who presented TasNetworks’ response to the Panel’s draft recommendations and provided further insight into the potential implications and opportunities associated with their proposals.
Throughout the day, subject matter experts were available to answer questions, provide clarification and support the panel as they worked through the final stages of refining their recommendations.
The session concluded with a significant milestone as the panel formally handed over their final recommendations to TasNetworks Chair, Roger Gill, and Deputy CEO, Renée Anderson.
Following the handover, both panel members and the TasNetworks team shared their reflections on the journey. It was inspiring to hear the pride, passion and commitment that had developed throughout the process, and the meaningful connections that had been formed along the way.
The People’s Panel has played an important role in helping shape our future direction, bringing diverse perspectives and thoughtful consideration to some complex challenges. Their willingness to listen, learn and work together has been extraordinary.
While the formal recommendations have now been delivered, the journey is not over. Panel members will be invited to return for a recall day in late October, where they will see how their recommendations have influenced the development of our draft proposal and continue discussions on key options being considered.
