Tasmania is now 100 per cent self-sufficient in renewable energy, confirming our status as a world leader in renewable energy generation. TasNetworks is playing a key role in Australia's renewable energy transition, by enabling Tasmania to generate and export renewable electricity over an interconnector to mainland Australia.
About TasNetworks:
TasNetworks delivers power to Tasmanians. We are Tasmania’s electricity network company, owning and operating the electricity distribution and transmission networks in the state. TasNetworks’ costs make up approximately half the average Tasmanian electricity bill.
We deliver a safe, cost-effective, and reliable electricity supply to more than 295,000 residential, commercial, and industrial customers. We also:
• Facilitate large-scale renewable energy generation connections to our network in Tasmania (such as wind farms) • Are progressing the case for further Bass Strait electricity transmission interconnection, Marinus Link, as part of Australia’s future electricity grid • Provide telecommunications, information technology services
TasNetworks is the key link between electricity generators and electricity customers. We are focusing on to delivering sustainable prices to customers while supporting utilisation of the network as customers increasingly invest in new energy technologies, such as batteries and electric vehicles.
