RAC role and function

The RAC is TasNetworks' peak advisory group, and is responsible for the following functions:

  • Building a collective understanding of TasNetworks’ business and Regulatory Proposal requirements
  • Providing independent feedback regarding the design of our Regulatory Proposal's Engagement Strategy to ensure it is fit-for-purpose, representative and inclusive
  • Offering informed comment on findings and insights from the Regulatory Proposal engagement program of work, optimising customer and community outcomes when possible and within the regulatory framework
  • Completing detailed analysis and discussion of complex future projects and plans for the 2024-29 regulatory period
  • Providing independent advice and oversight regarding customer and community needs, issues and services, and how these should be addressed or incorporated into the Regulatory Proposal, where possible
  • Providing informed feedback regarding TasNetworks’ Regulatory Proposal, to ensure it meets the expectations of the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) while also balancing the needs of TasNetworks’ customers, Owners and the business’ broader strategic objectives
  • Reporting to TasNetworks’ existing reference groups (TasNetworks Customer Council and Policy and Regulatory Working Group), regarding insights that require further consideration, as required
  • Identifying areas where further research or analysis may be required for inclusion in Regulatory Proposal activities; including but not limited to developing a scope of work for consultants to analyse items that fall within the remit of the Regulatory proposal.
